expert and experienced counselling

About Me

I'm a BACP-accredited counsellor, EMDR practitioner and qualified supervisor with more than 18 years' experience. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine, collaborative relationship. My aim is to offer you a space where you can feel safe, heard, and understood , somewhere you don’t have to rush or be anything other than yourself. We can go at a pace that feels right for you.

Training

I have a degree in Psychology, a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and postgraduate training in supervision, alongside specialist training in EMDR and trauma-focused practice.

Experience

My background includes private practice, third-sector services and working with a wide range of complex emotional and psychological difficulties and varied backgrounds.

My experience has taught me that there is rarely a simple explanation for why someone is struggling.

People are shaped by their experiences, relationships, bodies, environments and the ways they've learned to survive.

That's why I take time to understand the whole person rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or a particular symptom.

therapy for you

When you've tried therapy before

You may have had counselling before.

Perhaps you've gained insight into why you feel the way you do, but understanding something hasn't necessarily changed how it feels.

You might think:

“I know where this comes from. So why am I still reacting like this?”

This is something I hear often.

Sometimes insight is an important part of healing, but it isn't the whole process.

Trauma can be held in emotional and bodily responses as well as conscious thoughts and memories.

This is one of the reasons I incorporate EMDR, body awareness and other trauma-informed approaches into my work where appropriate.

Therapy that is shaped around you

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches rather than expecting every person to fit one particular model.

My work may incorporate elements of CBT, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness and transpersonal approaches alongside trauma-focused work and EMDR.

But the techniques are never the starting point.

You are.

Therapy should be collaborative and responsive to what you need.

I want you to feel able to bring your whole self into the room — including the parts you may have felt unable to show elsewhere.

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine relationship: somewhere you don't have to rush, perform or be anything other than yourself.

I also bring my own life experience into the room, which I believe contributes to a more real, human connection.

reclaim aliveness after trauma

What happens in a session?

  • Sessions are 60 minutes and are available online and in person in Bromley.
  • Your first session is an opportunity to talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what you'd like to change and what you're hoping for from the process.
  • You don't need to arrive with a clear diagnosis or know exactly which type of therapy you need.
  • We'll work that out together.
  • If EMDR is appropriate, we won't simply start processing trauma immediately.
  • We'll first spend time getting to know you, understanding your history and making sure you have the resources and stability needed to work safely.
  • Therapy should feel challenging at times, but it should also feel safe, collaborative and respectful.

Trauma Informed

My practice is fully trauma-informed, prioritising safety, trust, and collaboration. Trauma leaves deep psychological, emotional, and physical imprints, and therapy must recognise and address these effects.
